After boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois, Tom attended school and learned about aircraft in Tennessee. Then he was stationed on the aircraft carrier U.S.S Wasp which docked in Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. After its stint out at sea, the USS Wasp docked at Quonset Point, Rhode Island where it was decommissioned. When he was docked in Rhode Island, Tom was able to drive home on weekends to see his family. He was honorably discharged in 1972.
Tom comes from a family of Navy veterans, his father served in WWII and his brother also served in the Navy.
Tom has always been proud to serve his country!
