CPT Michael Piro is a graduate of Lindenhurst High School class of 1997. Upon graduation he attended the United States Military Academy at West Point where he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army Infantry.
After training in Fort Benning Georgia, his first duty station was with Second ID at Camp Casey in South Korea. He then joined 4th Infantry in Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) 1.
Upon redeployment he joined the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment and deployed again for OIF 3.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star with Oak leaf cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with Valor device, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the Ranger tab.
