Lawrence Cohen (Larry) was born in 1931 in Brooklyn, NY. He enlisted in the United States Army in
February 1952 after being drafted, and spent his first few months in training. In late August of that same year, he began his journey to aid
in the Korean War, leaving his family in the States. After taking a plane to Seattle, Washington, he was brought by ship to Korea. This
took about 12 days at sea, and Larry arrived in Korea on his 21st birthday, September 10th, 1952.
While Larry was in Korea, he aided as a truck driver, transporting ammo to the front lines, and sometimes transporting those who were
wounded so they could get medical assistance. Larry stayed in Korea for a few months after the war had ended, starting his journey back
to America in early 1954. He traveled by boat again, this time arriving at a port in San Francisco, California. From there he was able
to take a train back to New York to begin the rest of his life.
After returning from Korea, Larry married Josephine and together they had 3 children; Donna, Darrell, and Dawn. In the late 60's
the family moved to Deer Park, NY. Since moving to Long Island, Larry is now 92 years old with his 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 3
great-grandchildren, who are all extremely proud to have him as a part of the family. He is their biggest hero and biggest inspiration
for serving our country!
